That means its earnings are less tied to production volumes and more tied to refining margins and retail sales. On the positive side, HPCL benefits from a large market share and extensive distribution network across India. The company has significant asset scale, which provides operating leverage when fuel demand grows. It also earns stable cash flows from fuel sales, lubricants, and non-fuel retailing businesses. HPCL typically pays dividends, which adds to total shareholder returns. However, there are real weaknesses.
